CMMS - Fire Kit Plus

This is the fire starter kit that I personally carry in my survival kit.  It has 12 hand selected items that I have chosen to keep with me when a fire is essential.  This kit can be kept together so that a person will never run out of fire starting options or divided up into a group should others not have the tools that they need.

It also comes with a small button compass for obvious navigation purposes and a wilderness survival card that could help you put food on the campfire once you get those flames going.

    Fire Kit Plus:

    Condor Rip-Away EMT Lite - Its compact design is great to hold all of the items in this fire kit while the outside webbing can hold additional MOLLE Attachments or ferro rods. It features a grab handle for quick tear-away transfers or load-out switching as well as a quick-access pull tongue to open the pouch.

    ESEE Fire Steel – is made from 1095 carbon steel.  Heat treated to be used as a fire making tool for use with true flint and charred material. The edges of the Fire Steel also work as a Ferrocerium (Ferro) rod striker and the center divot is designed to be used as a bow drill socket. The Fire Steel comes packaged in a hinged-lid tin that can be used to make char cloth or other charred materials. Includes survival information card. 

    Live Fire Emergency Fire Starter - The Original Emergency Fire Starter stores in metal tin that can serve as a signaling device. Lightweight, waterproof, extremely compact, burns extremely hot, burns for many hours, adjustable flame size and creates charred cloth. Can be used to ignite hard to light fire tinder.

    UCO Stormproof Match Kit -  Windproof, waterproof and stormproof. Easy to light and stays lit, even after being submerged in water. Burns up to 15 seconds. Green composition storage cylinder. O-ring sealed. Contains 25 matches and three strikers. 

    Ranger TurboFlame Lighter - Windproof Lighter. Produces a powerful, adjustable twin laser jet flame. Flame temperature reaches up 2372ºF / 1300º C. Size: 3" x 1.125" (7.6 x 3 cm). Turboflame Lighters feature wind resistance for outdoor use. Rugged, portable, and compact construction. Clean Burn technology allows the lighter to melt synthetic materials without depositing black carbon, so outdoor equipment can be quick fixed without discoloration. Flame temperature can reach up to 2500°. Outdoor enthusiasts include Turboflame in their emergency kits to melt p-tex, seal micro-cracks in boards and canoes, cut and seal PARA rope and blast rust from metal. Turboflame lighters can work up to altitudes of 3000 meters and don't "self-combust" at high altitudes. Ideal for camping, survival kits, repair kits and other outdoor activities. Refillable.     Blastmatch – A great fire starter for kids or if you are injured and can only use one hand. One-handed fire starter that generates intensely hot sparks with minimal effort. This all-weather fire starting system is not affected by adverse weather and works even if it gets wet. Simply wipe excess water off of the flint bar and strike as normal. 

    Coghlans Flint Striker – A great backup ferro rod.  Easy to use and produces a spark even when wet.  I chose the Coghlans fire striker because it has never failed me.  It may not be the highest rated striker or the most durable but when my hands are cold and I am having difficulty getting a spark with my high dollar striker, I fall back to this striker.

    (x10) Wetfire Tinder  - Non-toxic fire starting tinder that burns even on a wet surface. Individually packaged lightweight solid cubes that can't leak or foul up your other gear. Burns at over 1,300°. Long burn time. Safe, easy-to-carry and unaffected by wind or water. Works with any firestarting device.  Stores up to 5 years.  They burn with almost no smoke and can be started even in high winds and nasty weather.

    25’ Firecord - Fire tinder added as the 8th inner strand to standard 550 nylon paracord. The 8th strand is color coded, waterproof, and is easy to ignite. When you need the fire tinder, remove the inner strands, light just like any fire tinder and build your fire. After the inner strands are used, the outer shell can be reused like before, for lanyards, keychains, zipper pulls, or emergency lashing.

    12’ Paracord – If all else fails, 12 foot of paracrod is included in this kit to use with a primitive bow drill.

    Readyman Kit - Wilderness Survival Card - Tempered 301 stainless construction. Tools are easy to snap off and use immediately. Includes arrowhead, awl, dual sided saw, (2) sewing needles, small game arrowhead, (4) snare locks, trident, and tweezers. 

    Ndur Button Compass – Is about the diameter of a US penny. Liquid filled. Water resistant. Weighs only 0.05 oz. GSA and TAA compliant. An ideal compass for quick checks when you need to determine general direction
